4-H & Youth

Iowa 4-H Youth Development is the premier youth development program of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Providing research-based education to K-12 youth, Iowa 4-H focuses on Healthy Living, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Leadership and Civic Engagement, and Communication and the Arts. Iowa 4-H builds upon more than a century of experience in positive youth development partnering with youth to help them find their passion. Enroll in 4-HOnline

The 4-H year runs from September-August. New members can join any time during the year, but must join by May 15 to be eligible to participate in county fair activities. Active 4-H members should re-enroll in 4-H every year to make sure you are receiving all information about Cass County 4-H activities, and keep your contact and health information current! Enroll or re-enroll by signing up in the 4HOnline database. If you need help creating an account or understanding how to use 4HOnline, help sheets are available below or you may call 712-243-1132 or stop by the Extension Office and we will help you!

Library Programs! Visit the community libraries this summer for programs. Cass County Extension is hosting 2 programs at each library!

  • Pinball Adventure: Level up with Angles: Review the necessary items needed to create a game and consider how angles play a part in pinball. Create a pinball course for all to play!
  • 4-H Escape: Unlock the Project Areas: Crack the code, solve problems related to 4-H project areas to get to the next level. Work with a team to complete all the challenges!

Summer 2025 Extension & Conservation Day Camps

K-1st grade camps are FREE to attend. 2nd-8th grade camps are $10.00 per participant. Limit 20 per camp. Grade is based on the grade completed in May 2025. Registration can be completed online or paper form and returning it to Cass County Extension, 805 W 10th Street in Atlantic. Additional waivers may be needed for specific camps. A camp reminder will be sent out within a week of the camp taking place. 

Camps are held at:

Lewis’ Cold Springs Campground Shelter. 

Lake Anita’s Primitive Campground #39 & 40 Camblin Addition in Sunnyside Park. 

Atlantic Camp Shelters are sponsored by the Atlantic Parks and Recreation Department.

Rocking Reptiles (completed K-1st Grades) FREE

Learn about reptiles and critters with scales, make crafts and play games in this fun, half-day free camp.

  • Lewis - June 10th from 9am-12pm

  • Atlantic - June 13th from 9am-12pm

  • Atlantic - June 13th from 1pm-4pm

 

Amazing Pollination (completed 2nd-3rd Grades) $10 per camper

Learn about what pollinators do and why they are important, make crafts and play games! Please bring a sack lunch!

  • Anita - June 18th from 9am-4pm

  • Atlantic - June 24th from 9am-4pm

 

Our Earth! (completed 4-5th Grades) $10 per camper

Explore everything the Earth has to offer us though crafts and games. Please bring a sack lunch!

  • Lewis - June 12th from 9am-4pm

  • Anita - June 19th from 9am-4pm

  • Atlantic - June 20th from 9am-4pm

 

Outdoor Adventure Fisheries (completed 6-8th Grades) $10 per camper

Learn outdoor skills related to fishing, kayaking, and hiking. We will make lunch in a Dutch Oven. Students need a signed waiver to kayak ahead of camp. This waiver will be emailed out with camp confirmation. Bussing from Atlantic is provided if needed (indicate at registration). 

  • Lewis – July 9th from 9-4pm

 

The Fees for service will be used to off-set direct expenses and to support the Cass County Extension 4-H Youth Program. June camps that take place from 9am-4pm will need to bring a sack lunch. Lunch is not provided for K-1st grade camps.  Snacks and all activity supplies are included. We offer quality, affordable program and don’t want cost to be a barrier, please contact us for more information if you need financial assistance.

2025 Cass County 4-H Endowment Pancake Supper:

Thursday, March 13th 4:30-7:30pm! 

Net profits from the 2025 Pancake Supper was over $7,400. Thank you for your support! 

 All proceeds go to the Cass County 4-H program to support program development fees for all youth in 4-H/ and Clover Kids. Cass County 4-H Endowment also offers out-of-county grants and scholarships to graduating members.  


Out-of-County Grant Application - Due one month prior to attending an out of-county event. Any Cass County 4-Her can make a request


Senior Scholarship Application - Due April 7, 2025. The Cass County 4-H Endowment Committee will review applications following this due date. Youth will find out at their School's Class Night final selection. Scholarship checks will be written to the college following the first semester. A semester transcript must be sent to the Cass County Extension Office before payment is sent.
