Join 4-H

Embark on an exhilarating journey with 4-H, a global program captivating the hearts of nearly 6 million young people! Youth can experience 4-H through school and community clubs, in-school and after-school programs, and 4-H camps. 4-H programming focuses on the following program project areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Communication and the Arts, Healthy Living, Leadership and Civic Engagement, and STEM. 4-H welcomes youth from various backgrounds and passions in grades K-12 - Clover Kids (grades K-3) and 4-H Clubs (grades 4-12).

Enrolling in your county's 4-H program may involve an enrollment fee. Please contact your local County Extension Office to find out more. Financial assistance for individual enrollment fees is available through the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

What's 4-H

4-H is a youth development program for youth in 4-12th grade. 
 
4-H Mission: Empowering youth to reach their full potential through youth-adult partnerships and research-based experiences.
 
4-H Vision: Preparing Iowa’s youth to be successful, contributing members of society. 
 
The 
Iowa 4-H program’s four program priorities – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Healthy Living, Citizenship and Leadership, and Communication and the Arts – align with the goals of the Clinton County 4-H Youth Development Program and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

  1. Pick a Club 
    1. Check out Wapello County's 4-H Clubs.  Join a club that works best for you!  Contact the club leader to learn specific information about the club.  
    2. If you would like assistance joining a club, contact the Wapello County Extension Office.  
  2. Register
    1. To register for 4-H, go to 4HOnline.  Create a new family account and profile for each youth. (make sure additional members are just added…a whole new account is not needed for each youth).
    2. Use an email that is checked regularly to receive emails for upcoming events. 
  3. Learn about 4-H

    1. Look for a 4-H project area that interests you.  
    2. Check out our 4-H Monthly Newsletters to discover what is going on in the Wapello  County 4-H Program.   
    3. Explore the Iowa 4-H website.

  • To enroll or re-enroll in Wapello County 4-H go to 4HOnline
  • Cost is $20 to enroll in 4-H this year (if you register between September 1 and December 31, cost goes up to $40 January 1).  This fee helps offset the costs of the county and state 4-H program.  (Wapello County Extension office is covering half the $40 fee for the 2023-24 4-H year). If you would like to apply for financial assistance, contact the Wapello County Extension Office.
