2025 Summer Camps and Workshops

Check out the information below for details about our summer programs!

Summer Programs for Youth

Iowa State Extension and Outreach Greene County offers quality summer day camps and project workshops in our community. Registration begins April 1st for our 2024 summer camps. A limited number of spots are available for each camp.

What is a Project Workshop?  A project workshop is specifically for youth in 4-H or Clover Kids. The goal of this workshop is to explore a project area they can enter at the fair, create a project, and begin on the paperwork needed to enter this at the fair.

What is a Day Camp?  A day camp is open to any youth and does not need to be in 4-H or Clover Kids to participate. These are often full-day or half-day camps where youth do interactive, hands-on, and educational activities focused on the summer camp theme.

Registration fees will vary per camp or workshop. This differs due to the needed supplies for each program. Participants should bring a lunch for each camp day unless instructed otherwise. Snacks and all activity supplies are included. We offer quality, affordable programs and don't want cost to be a barrier - financial assistance is available. Please contact our office with any questions.

Registration deadline is 1 week prior to camp date. Most camp dates fill quickly so don't delay in signing up!

Cancellation policy is that all youth must be registered and paid for 1 week before camp. This can be done at our office or by leaving cash or check in our back drop box. Youth not paid for by this time will be removed from the list. If youth are unable to attend, please let me know within 24 hours from the start of the camp to receive a refund. Youth who cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not show up will not receive a refund.

How to sign up You can sign up your youth by emailing hardaway@iastate.edu Please only email Samantha as camps fill up quickly and having time stamps on emails it allows us to fill up camps based on responses!

Program FAQs

When is the registration fee due? The fee is due at the beginning of the camp. This can be paid by cash or check before the camp or when dropping your child off.

Is lunch provided? To mitigate cost this year we are asking youth to pack their lunch. However, some camps have lunch included in the lesson. Parents will be emailed if they do NOT need to bring lunch to that camp! 1-2 snacks will be included in full-day camps.

What grade is used for sign-up? Please use the grade your child completed as of May 2024.

Is space limited? Yes, the number of spots in each camp is limited and these are on a first come first serve basis. This policy is in place to allow youth to have the most optimal and one-on-one learning experience for attendees. Several camps will be offered on more than one date to allow for more kids to sign up for this experience.

Where will the camps take place? All camps will be at the Greene County Extension Office (104 W Washington St.) unless otherwise noted. Oftentimes project workshop camps will have a different beginning and end location. Parents will be emailed these details. Some camps will require staff transportation. Parents will be made aware of this before the camp.

Will parents get a reminder before camp? Yes, you will receive a reminder email with camp details one business day before the camp. Please be sure to check your email and contact Samantha if your child cannot make it.
