Protecting savings and assets becomes increasingly important as people age. Older adults can be attractive targets for fraudsters. Studies have suggested that older Americans lost at least $2.9 billion to financial exploitation in 2010 by a broad spectrum of perpetrators, including persons they know and trust, as well as strangers. Financial education practitioners can help to prevent, recognize, and report financial exploitation.

Partnership with Iowa State University, Iowa Food Bank Association 

DES MOINES, Iowa (June 18, 2020) – Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced the Beef Up Iowa program to connect Iowa beef producers with food insecure Iowans. The program is a partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa State University and Iowa’s beef producers, and is an initiative of Gov. Reynolds’ Feeding Iowans Task Force led by Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg.

Jefferson– The Iowa State University Greene County Extension and Outreach office will host a meeting on Thursday, July 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with doors open at 9:00a.m. The location is at the Greene County Extension office located at 104 W. Washington St. in Jefferson. The meeting will last approximately 2 ½ hours and will be facilitated by Tim Christensen, farm and agriculture business management specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.
