Structured for Success Proposal for Model 3

November 1, 2019

Oct. 11, 2019 - email message to staff and councils

On August 20 we shared a Structured for Success proposal with two models to begin discussion of ISU Extension and Outreach’s organizational structure going forward. We asked for your feedback and you responded – thoughtfully and often passionately. We have read and considered all the questions and comments we’ve received – from the first webinar, the virtual suggestion box, the area-wide meetings, other face-to-face sessions, and the virtual listening sessions. We thank you for all your feedback.

We also said we’d consider other models. But we noted that any model should enhance local programming, reduce burden on councils, and assure ISU Extension and Outreach a seat at the county table on programming and personnel. A group of county directors took us up on that offer and proposed a third model.

Today I’d like to introduce model 3, compare it with models 1 and 2, and share the updated timeline and process for feedback. Please watch the video overview and read the white paper that provides details about model 3. The video and white paper will be archived later today on the Structured for Success feedback page for council access, and on MyExtension for extension staff and faculty access (use your net ID and password to log in).

We are extending the deadline for providing feedback to November 8. You can submit questions via the virtual suggestion box on the vice president for extension and outreach webpage. You can send me an email or call me. You also can contact any of the Structured for Success committee members. In addition, we’ll be sending an online survey later this month.

Thank you for considering models 1, 2, and now 3. ISU Extension and Outreach is very lucky to have so many people in our organization who are passionate about their work and dedicated to serving Iowans. We look forward to hearing from you.
