O'Brien County 4-H Youth Council is a group of O’Brien County 4-H'ers going into grades 9-12. The group provides input on current county 4-H programs, plans and carries out county-wide activities, and serves the communities in O’Brien County. County Council members are ambassadors for the 4-H program and are positive role models for younger 4-H members. By serving on this council, 4-H’ers are taking the initiative to become tomorrow’s leaders.

The overall profitability of a livestock production operation greatly depends on the age of the buildings. Maintenance of the buildings is critical for their continued use, according to Kapil Arora, agricultural engineering specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. ISU Extension and Outreach is joining industry partners to offer a five-part webinar series on the maintenance issues faced by facility managers and maintenance crews. The sessions are geared toward livestock producers, livestock building owners and contractors, facility managers, maintenance crew members, engineers, designers and others interested in building maintenance.

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist Joel DeJong will host three Private Pesticide Applicator Recertification Trainings in Northwest Iowa: July 23, July 28 and August 3, 2020. The trainings were canceled earlier this spring due to COVID-19, at which time the recertification training deadline was extended to Sept. 30, 2020.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – While COVID-19 has changed a lot of things, major packers still require a current Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certificate from feedlot producers selling market-ready cattle. Beth Doran, beef specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, said that’s why a set of certification workshops has been planned for northwest Iowa producers starting in early July.
