Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host 11 Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training meetings from October 2018 through March 2019. The training sessions are for fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety. Each class will be led by ISU Extension and Outreach specialists.

The Kossuth County Cattlemen will be offering a 4-H Beef Award and $500 Scholarship at their annual banquet.

Kossuth County's annual 4-H lock-in is scheduled for Friday, February 22 at the Algona Family YMCA. The event begins at 9:45pm and ends 5:45am Saturday, February 23. All 4-H members and non-members from grades 4-12 are welcome to attend! This year’s activities will include dodgeball, basketball, swimming, raquetball, movies, and much more! The lock-in costs $15 for 4-H members or $20 for non-members. Registration closes on Monday, February 11. Sign up today by contacting the Kossuth County Extension Office at 515-295-2469 or returning a completed registration form with payment.

Mark your calendars! – Saturday, Feb. 2nd from 9:45AM-3:00PM @ ILCC – see attached flyer.  NO COST - thanks to the Kossuth County Cattlemen for covering the fee for all Kossuth County 4-H and FFA youth wishing to attend!  Accompanying adults are welcome to participate for a $5 fee.  Deadline to register is January 24th.  Sessions will include Beefing Up! with Tammy Chapman, RD; Calving Simulator – ISU College of Vet Medicine & Dr. Dan Berkland, Sibley Vet Clinic; How do You Score? with Dr. Beth Doran, ISUEO Beef Specialist & Mark Jensen, ILCC Beef Instructor; andYou Be the Judge with Mike Anderson, 4-H Livestock Specialist & Lisa Berkland, 4-H Specialist.  Please note – we are not able to grant YQCA credit for attending this event.
