Register now for the Master Gardener training offered at Jefferson County starting this fall. Complete the training and volunteer internship to earn the title Master Gardener. Training includes 40 hours of horticulture education and one hands-on workshop in Ames on November 3rd. Learn more by contacting or call the office at 641-472-4166.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Jefferson County has packed their summer full of educational opportunities for all school-age youth. We will host six standalone day camps in June thru August. We are also planning our 2nd annual STEM Investigation Destination Week July 23-26.

Horticulture Meets Citizenship at Soldier Garden

4-H youth are learning about horticulture, history, farming practices and citizenship in the Soldier Garden at the Fort Museum in Fort Dodge. 4-H’ers have planted and are taking care of the garden with guidance from ISU Extension and Outreach Master Gardeners.
