Iowa Drainage School 2024 Scheduled

Sub-surface drainage is integrated into midwestern farming; and Iowa State University (ISU) has been hosting the drainage school to train stakeholders on complex sub-surface drainage concepts. In 2024, the Iowa Drainage School will be held at the Borlaug Learning Center at the ISU’s Northeast Research Farm in Nashua, IA. The three-day school (August 20 through 22) will include classroom lectures, discussions, team problem solving and field exercises, and will provide a unique educational opportunity for attendees, which included contractors, farmland owners, drainage consulting engineers, drainage equipment manufacturers, and technical service providers. The school will be focused on the fundamentals of drainage design including understanding soils, obtaining an accurate survey, drainage pipe size and spacing, controlled drainage and water table management, sub-irrigation, legal considerations, different installation techniques and equipment. Interested stakeholders wanting to attend the school can get more details about the registration fees, accommodations, and the school agenda by visiting online at https://www.regcytes.extension.iastate.edu/ids/.
Questions about the school can be directed to Kapil Arora (515-291-0174) or Matt Helmers (515-294-6717) or Tony Mensing (641-743-8412).
