Providing excess garden produce to area food pantries prevents food waste while providing fresh, nutritious food to families experiencing food insecurity. Share the Harvest is a guide to make donating produce or volunteering time easier for local gardeners in Southeast Iowa.

Des Moines County 4-H is excited and proud to announce the establishment of a county endowment fund with the Iowa 4-H Foundation.  There are over 75 county endowment funds established with the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

The partnership of Des Moines County and Iowa 4-H foundation provides benefits to local supporters and the local 4-H program.  The county endowment fund replaces the formally known Friends of 4-H.  There are several ways to give towards the Des Moines County Endowment. Follow the link to get more information.

Nothing brings people together quite like working shoulder to shoulder in hairnets and packaging 20,000 meals in an hour. During a Meals from the Heartland service project, ISU Extension and Outreach was networking with a purpose to fight hunger.
