Participants are allowed to register for as many classes as they like during the two-week Institute period. The fee for the three-day Academy will be $185. The Academy will be held July 24-26. The location of both the Institute and the Academy will be  in Ames, Iowa. Look for registration materials for the Institute at the link below and for the Academy in late March or early April through our website.

The Institute program will continue to offer educational programming that qualifies for IIMC certification. The Municipal Clerks Education Foundation (MCEF) of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) is offering scholarships to attend Municipal Clerks Institutes and Academies in 2019. Application and criteria can be requested by phone or online at: http://www.iimc.com/index.aspx?nid=114.

The Iowa Municipal Professionals Institute (MPI) and the Iowa Municipal Finance Officers Association (IMFOA) will also have scholarships available for 2018 to cover registration fees. The Municipal Professionals Institute scholarships are open to ALL Iowa municipal clerks. The IMFOA scholarships are open to Iowa municipal clerks who are members of IMFOA. To be eligible, participants must register for at least 30 hours. The deadline has passed for 2019. Please contact Cindy Hopton [formerly Stuve] at 515-294-8397 or by email at cstuve@iastate.edu for more information. If you have applied for a scholarship, please delay your registration until you hear from us.

These scholarships are awarded based upon need with the following criteria in mind:

  1. Council and/or self-financing of Institute registration fees is not available or over burdensome to the municipal or individual budget;
  2. Attendance at Institute may not occur without scholarship;
  3. Only one application submitted from a municipality.

Applications will be approved at the April IMFOA meeting. No person shall be able to receive more than one scholarship. Receipt of the IIMC scholarship will take preference over the IMFOA or IMPI scholarships. If a person is chosen to receive more than one scholarship, he or she must accept the IIMC scholarship and the IMFOA or IMPI scholarship will be given to an alternate. If you receive a scholarship from IIMC, please contact Cindy Hopton so an alternate can be selected. Alternates will be notified as soon as possible.

Other opportunities for scholarships may be through regional organizations in your area, please contact them directly for more information.
