Dog
March 20, 2017

Dog classes for dog project members begin on Monday, April 9, 2018; obedience training is from 6:30-7:15pm, and agility is from 7:15-7:45, both at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. First year members will meet in the Fair Auditorium. See article for details.

February 21, 2018

NEW THIS YEAR: ALL PIGS, including 4-H/FFA Market, Breeding and Derby pigs and Open Derby pigs must be identified with an official USDA ear tag prior to May 15.  Ear tags cost $2 per tag.  The Clinton County Fair Swine Weigh-In will take placeon March 24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the DeWitt Central Bus Barn.  All Open and 4-H/FFA Derby pigs MUST BE weighed on March 24. 4-H/FFA Market and Breeding pigs have the option to be tagged on March 24 at the DeWitt Bus Barn OR on April 28 in the Swine Barn at the Clinton County Fairgrounds between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.  If you plan to show in the 4-H Market or Breeding show at the Iowa State Fair, please let us know and we can put a special DNA ear tag ($10 per tag) in your pig’s ear instead of the USDA tag.  You also have the option to tag your 4-H STATE FAIR Market and Breeding pigs yourself before May 15 by picking up the tags and envelopes from the Extension office CLICK TO CONTINUE READING ......

As part of your ongoing role as a 4-H or Clover Kids Club Leader, you are required to complete one Annual Volunteer Training by July 1, each year.  Annual Volunteer Training is OPTIONAL for NEW 2017-18 Volunteers!  New Volunteers are only required to attend New Volunteer Training within one year of completing the background screening process. Appreciation dinner will be served at 6:00 pm : Clinton County Cattlemen Beef and Pork sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad and dessert.  Be sure to RSVP for Annual Volunteer Training by emailing Brianne at briannej@iastate.edu calling the Clinton County Extension Office at (563)659-5125.

 

February 20, 2018

If you would like to participate in the Market Broiler class at the Clinton County Fair, you must order your chicks from the Clinton County Extension office by April 28, 2018. The Chicks will be ordered from Schlecht Hatchery and are $2.00 per chick. It is recommended that you order a minimum of 6-8 chicks for each pen you wish to exhibit. Market broiler chicks must be picked up at the Extension office between Noon and 6:00 pm on May 15th. Order form HERE.
