Come join us as we travel by van with other 4-Hers to Des Moines, tour the State Capitol complex, visit with elected officials, gain a greater understanding of our Iowa State Government and learn about our great schools and people. On Wednesday, February 28th, 6th - 9th grade 4-H members & friends are planning to visit the Judicial Center, Iowa Legislature and Capitol in Des Moines. From there, we will have lunch and explore the Iowa Hall of Pride:

WHO: Any interested 6th - 9th grade 4-H members & friends.  4-H members may invite a friend in 6th - 9th grade who is a not a 4-H member. They must pay the fee, fill out a health form and register by the deadline. Space is limited to 26 participants - register early!

COST:  $30 is due with your registration form by February 16th, 2018. Fees after February 16th are $35. This fee covers van rental, gas, insurance, lunch and snacks for the van ride home. Make check payable to Black Hawk County Extension, 3420 University Ave., Suite B, Waterloo, Iowa 50701

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program will host three Growing Season webcasts this winter. Master Gardeners will gain educational hours while learning about starting vegetable seeds and growing transplants, managing volunteers and building food security partnerships. The two-hour webcasts are scheduled at the ISU Extension and Outreach Black Hawk County office.
Seed to Table - Feb. 20: Noon- 2pm, Feb. 22:  6pm to 8pm
Garden helpers - March 6: Noon to 2pm, March 8:  6pm to 8pm
Food Security Partners -  March 20: Noon to 2pm, March 22:  6 to 8pm

The webcasts are free of charge and open to anyone who may be interested.
