4-H STEM programs work to engage youth through hands-on experiences that connect to their lives and respond to their interests. 4-H programs use hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and math to teach problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, and inspire kids to explore STEM professions.

InventSTEM partnership with Alliant Energy encourages youth in grades 4-12 to engage in the innovation process to solve real-world problems.


Through computer programming, robotics teaches youth to problem-solve, communicate, and work as a team while developing STEM knowledge and skills.

STEM-Lit to Go! is an innovative program that supports the development of STEM and literacy skills for K-3 youth, through topics including space and inventions.

The 4-H STEM Challenge is an annual initiative to inspire young people to take an interest in STEM through hands-on learning. This year's challenge: Mars Base Camp!

national stem summit

Held in Washington D.C., the National STEM Summit boasts engaging activities and design challenges for teens to discover the possibilities of a career in STEM.

forward learning experience

The Forward Learning Experience (FLEx) is a collaborative design outreach partner program with the College of Design and the College of Engineering.
