4-H STEM programs work to engage youth through hands-on experiences that connect to their lives and respond to their interests. 4-H programs use hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and math to teach problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, and inspire kids to explore STEM professions.

Cost: FREE
*STEAM challenges/activities are encouraged and done on your own outside of the performance.

Nutcracker Ballet + STEM is a program designed for elementary aged youth (grades 2-5) to highlight the connection between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and the arts. This program supports the development of STEM, art, and literacy skills.

Nutcracker Ballet + STEM is an Iowa 4-H program presented in partnership with Stephens Auditorium. There are a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities available for educators to implement before or after the show. Each Nutcracker themed challenge is designed to highlight the magical connection between STEM and the arts.

We encourage all youth to learn more about the Nutcracker Ballet through research and then take part in one of the following challenges with your class, family or club:
