Iowa State University Extension and Outreach - Woodbury County is hiring for two positions. The current openings are for a 4-H and Youth Development Coordinator as well as a Human Sciences and Youth Nutrition Educator.

Throughout the state, farmers markets are opening for the season, providing many opportunities for Iowans to sell home-prepared foods. This part of the U.S. food supply chain is known as the cottage food industry and cottage food producers are subject to certain regulations. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach offers online training in food safety, food preparation and Iowa regulations designed specifically for cottage food producers.

The Sioux City Public Library has announced a series of virtual programs related to gardening for this summer. The "Green Thumb: Summer Gardening Series" will be led by Woodbury County Master Gardeners.

Iowa State University has completed their spring survey of subsoil moisture in the northwest corner of Iowa, according to Joel DeJong, ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomist. Subsoil moisture levels are checked in fall and spring at several specific long-term locations in northwest Iowa counties.
