Seven Iowa women were recognized at the inaugural Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Leadership Conference held November 28, 2017 in Ames, Iowa. The 2017 Women Impacting Agriculture were honored for making positive changes and creating a more sustainable Iowa by improving economic resiliency and stability, conserving natural resources, and being influential agricultural leaders, family members and community volunteers.
On Tuesday Nov. 28, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Women in Ag Program will be holding its inaugural Leadership Conference. The primary session will be preceded by a series of intensive workshops that will be conducted on Monday Nov. 27.
Strengthening Women’s Leadership in Agriculture

Students at Iowa State University have an opportunity to participate in a new course this semester called Women in Agriculture and the Food System (SOC350X).
The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Leadership Conference will be held on November 26-27, 2018 at the Iowa State Center – Scheman Building in Ames, Iowa. The cost to participate in all conference activities and meals is $30.00 for students and $60.00 for all others. The conference theme is "The Conversations of Leadership."
Six Iowa Women Recognized as "Women Impacting Agriculture"
The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Program is recognizing “Women Impacting Agriculture.” This year, six women were chosen by ISU Extension and Outreach staff and recognized as women who are making positive changes and creating a more sustainable Iowa by improving economic resiliency and stability; conserving natural resources; and being influential agricultural leaders, family members and community volunteers. Diane Young is the Owner and Director of Technical Services for Foundation Analytical Laboratory in Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1991 with degrees in both Agricultural Microbiology and Animal Science. Founded in 2009, the laboratory specializes in conducting analyses for for animal feed, food safety, water quality and biofuels. With over twenty years of experience in the food and science industry, Diane has worked to incorporate customer service values into the business in order to enhance the relationships they share with their clients.
The conference theme is Leadership in unprecedented times
AMES, Iowa -- The fourth annual Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Leadership Conference addresses topics that are timely and challenging. The conference features speakers ready to share leadership knowledge and skills participants can apply to succeed in farm or agribusiness careers. This year’s conference is Nov. 30, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Dec. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The conference is a virtual event sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America.
