Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Leadership Conference
Meet Denise Schwab - Panelist
Denise Schwab is an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Beef Program Specialist in Northeast Iowa. Denise will be speaking on Customer Service for Ag Clientele with a small panel of women on November 28, 2017 at the Women in Ag Leadership Conference.
Denise enjoys being a woman in ag because of her ability to serve as a role model, and has been able to see a growing number of young women involved in the ag industry in Northeast Iowa, where she feels she has held a big impact.
The Customer Service Panel will be a segment of the Women in Ag Leadership Conference that will cover the importance of building good customer relationships, and how to appropriately handle clientele. Denise will be joined by two other women to share their insights on how customer service has affected their life and the life of the people they serve.
Denise has served ISU Extension and Outreach for the past 34 years in a diverse number of positions, from 4-H Youth Leader, county project leader, and now her role as the Beef Program Specialist in a 16-county region. Providing customer service has always been important in her life, as it helps to build relationships and genuine connections with community members.
“For me, it all circles back to my vision of extension. We used to be called the extension service,” Denise said. She goes on to explain that as extension has grown and changed, service still remains an important part of what ISU Extension and Outreach is about. Service is about helping producers on an individual level and understanding them.
Denise has had the opportunity to wear many different hats, as a woman in ag professionally and at home where she and her husband farm, and has a deep understanding of the challenges and advantages to being involved in the agriculture industry.
