Common Ground: Creating Dialog and Action 2016 ISU Veterans in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Conference

You are invited to join Veterans, family, service providers, and policy makers in a day of learning and networking at Common Ground: Creating Dialog & Action, the 2016 ISU Veterans in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Conference. The goal of Common Ground is to provide our Veterans and their families a community-focused resource fair and provide a venue for the exchange of new ideas and examine the strengths and weaknesses of our public policy setup and programming among service providers.

Service providers may check in up to one hour before the event starts to sign in with Iowa State staff prepare display materials for the resource fair. Doors open at 10:00am.

 

Resource Fair | 10:00am to 12:00pm

An open resource fair highlighting services and support providers focusing on Veterans in agriculture or entrepreneurship. Light refreshments and food will be provided. Come explore the resources available, interact with members of the Veteran and military community, policy makers, and meet your federal, state, and university support team.

 

Panel featuring Senator Joni Ernst and Other Public Policy Leaders | 12:00pm to 1:00pm

US Senator for Iowa, Joni Ernst, accompanied by other public policy representatives will be participating in a panel discussion around the great programs serving our Veterans.

 

Workshops | 1:15pm to 3:00pm

Breakout sessions will be conducted to identify public policy and program strengths and weaknesses. The workshops will be structured to create issue awareness, promote dialogue, explore new ideas, identify synergies, and create next step action items. Groups will focus on three experiential sectors of the greater Veteran community:

  • Veterans in agriculture and entrepreneurship
  • Veteran’s families
  • The service-provider network.
