Understanding price risk management can help women improve the financial conditions of their grain or livestock farms. This course helps women understand how options trading can affect farmer profitability through the farmer’s use of options, their cooperative’s or grain merchandiser’s use of options, and the underlying options that support commodity crop insurance.

Women will learn terminology and the differences between a hedge and an option. A grain marketing simulation tool gives participants realistic practice with options. Market strategies will be discussed as women practice choosing when to enter and exit an option. Women will gain skills to help them decide whether options are appropriate for their own marketing situation. The course is taught in the tradition of Annie’s Project and incorporates a comfortable and supportive learning environment. This is a 6-hour course and the cost of participant registration is $75.00.
