ISU has hired Dr. Aude Watrelot as an Assistant Professor in Enology. Dr. Watrelot will begin her new position in August of 2019. Dr. Watrelot holds a PhD in Food Biochemistry from Avignon France, a MS degree in Biology and Health from University Nantes, France and a BS degree in Plant Physiology and Biotechnology from University of Tours, France. She has conducted research as a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Waterhouse at UC-Davis and Dr. Kennedy at CSU-Fresno. Both are leaders in the enology field. These projects related to tannins in red wine and astringency perceptions. She has collaborations with faculty at the Australian Wine Research Institute in Adelaide and the College of Enology of the Northwest A&F University of Yangling in Shaanxi China. She has a wide range of technical skills and experiences that will move our research, education and outreach efforts forward.
Dr. Watrelot will be a tenure-track faculty member in FSHN and in that role will conduct research and develop an extension program related to wine science. Dr. Watrelot will NOT have a direct appointment in the MGWII although she will work closely with the institute and staff.
Dr. MacDonald will continue to serve as the MGWII Interim Director and manage the operations, supervise the staff and interact with the IWGA from an administrative role.
