Beginning Young Farmer Meeting June 28

Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Beginning Young Farmer meeting on June 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville, IA.

The meeting will kick off with a disease update by Alison Robertson, ISU Extension Plant Pathologist. Following the disease update, Chad Hart, ISU Crop Market Specialist and Extension Economists will provide a grain market update. He will also wrap up an online grain marketing simulation that was started last fall for participants to practice their grain marketing skills.

The meeting is open to all beginning farmers from Southeast Iowa. There is no charge for the event, and supper will be provided. Please RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 or nadrian@iastate.edu by noon on June 28 to be included in the meal count.

To reach the farm, follow U.S. Highway 218 one and three quarters miles south of Crawfordsville, then two miles east on county road G-62, then three quarters mile north. Signs will be posted to guide you to the event.
