Beginning Young Farmer Group to Meet September 6

Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Beginning Farmer meeting on September 6 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville, IA.

The meeting will focus on the topic of using insurance to help manage risk. Life is full of risks, and unfortunately, those risks can have financial consequences. Charles Brown, extension farm management specialist and Mary Weinand, extension family finance specialist will help to share information on how different types of insurance can be utilized to protect against risks and also what type of insurance is needed and what type of insurance is generally unnecessary.

The meeting is open to all beginning farmers from Southeast Iowa. There is no charge for the event, and supper will be provided. Please RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 or nadrian@iastate.edu by noon on September 6 to be included in the meal count.

The Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm is located at 3115 Louisa-Washington County Rd, Crawfordsville. To reach the farm, follow U.S. Highway 218 one and three quarters miles south of Crawfordsville, then two miles east on county road G-62, then three quarters mile north.
