4-H Fire Up Sparks All Kinds of Excitement

Junior 4-Her with Senior 4-H member

The Washington County 4-H program sponsored a 4-H Fire Up New Member Event on Sunday, March 28, for new Washington County 4-H’ers to learn more about 4-H.  Everyone left fired up to begin projects and teach others about 4-H.

23 families participated.  Each received a 4-H handbook with general 4-H information, project ideas, important dates, the how-to-do of goal writing and record keeping, and more.  These handbooks are available at the Extension Office for other new members.   New members learned about a range of project areas and opportunities 4-H has to offer through presentations from County Council members.

While 4-Hers were experiencing hands-on learning STEM, parents were able to listen to a 4-H parent panel featuring 4-H parents Dan Berdo, Ashley Conrad, Miranda Malichky, and Casey Peck.  4-H encourages family participation and parents to also network with each other as they get more involved with the program.
