Warren County Fair Information

2020 Warren County Exhibit Information

Please review the 2020 Warren County Fair book for complete rules and guideline. Fairbooks are available at www.warrencofair.com or at Bishop Insurance (701 W 2nd Ave, Indianola) for $5.

 

Static judging will be non-conference (State Fair format) this year. Youth will not meet with a judge. We ask that you drop your projects off at the Warren County Extension Office during your club's designated day/time. 

 

 

Project pick up will be July 27,28,29th. Please follow the same day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) and time (9:00am-noon, 1:00pm-4:00pm) schedule your club was assigned for drop off. 

 

 

Youth will still need to complete these forms for all project areas:

2. 4-H Exhibit Building Tags

3. 4-H Exhibit Building Entry Form

 

Food items will not be accepted this year.

 

If you are planning to exhibit a prepared food project please include these photos:

Each prepared food will be different, but include:

1. an entire product photo

2. a cross section/slice photo

3. a bottom photo.

You can always include more photos in your write up!

You are also required to include your recipe in your write up.

 

  • If you are exhibiting Home Improvement, Visual Arts, Clothing and Sewing you MUST include Design Elements and Art Principles. This is a new rule this year. Please see: Exploring the Elements and Principles of Design  for more information.

 

  • If you are doing Photography you must use the Photography label - Photography Label

 

 

 

 

  • If you found your idea on Pinterest please see how to source your idea.  Pinterest is NOT a source but a search tool to find ideas. - Pinterest Source Helpsheet

 

  • Every exhibit should have an entry tag attached and all pieces must be labeled with the 4-Hers name and club name.  Please tie every piece together so that they are attached.  Exhibit Tags can be found here - Exhibit Tags

 

NEW RULE THIS YEAR:

Page 64 in the Fair Book, rule 16 - 

The total amount of projects to be judged in one class area is limited to three projects. However, there is an exception for the area of photography where an exhibitor can enter four total photos. (Example: only three Food and Nutrition projects will be permitted to be judged.) 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

 

 

Communications judging will take place Saturday, July 18th. Videos need to be emailed by end of day Thursday, July 16th.

 

Extemporaneous Speaking

Materials will be emailed to the provided email address when signing up. You will receive these materials 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. After your 30 minutes are up, you will join a Zoom call with the judge to give your presentation. 

 

Working Exhibits

Record your presentation and upload it to YouTube as Unlisted. Be sure that the video is unedited! When uploading your video to YouTube, select publish options and select Unlisted. This will ensure that your video is only available to those with the link. Once you have it uploaded, email the link to Sammy (snhasper@iastate.edu). Be sure you receive a confirmation email that we received your video. We ask that you prepare 15 kits that we will pass out to volunteers to complete, then evaluate. We will compile these evaluations and share with the judge. The judge will also receive a kit so they are able to follow along with the project while viewing the video you submitted. 

 

Share-the-Fun

Report forms are now the same for all 3 clothing project areas: $15 Challenge, Clothing Selection, and Fashion Revue. There is a Junior/Intermediate Form and a Senior Form. Please complete this form for EACH of your clothing projects.

$15 Challenge

Please complete the Clothing Event Report Form and upload 4 photos of you in the outfit. A link for a Google Photos album will be emailed to each exhibitor. Please also upload a copy of your reciept to your album.

Photos need to be of the FULL outfit, including shoes and accessories that you wish to complete the outfit with.

CLOVER KIDS

 

Clover Kids are invited to drop their projects off at the Warren County Extension Office on Tuesday, August 4th. Evaluation of projects will be completed on Wednesday, August 5th. Youth will not be present while evaluation is taking place and won't visit with the judges. Projects will then be available for pick up on Thursday, August 6th. 

Please fill out an entry form for each exhibitor and an entry tag for each exhibit.
