April 29, 2020 -- email message to staff, faculty, and councils
Perhaps you have seen by now the message from Vice President Lawrence. In true Iowa State University spirit, another new adventure begins today. I am honored to be in the position, however temporary, of assisting you with navigating COVID-19 and all of the other opportunities and challenges that will arise this summer. I wanted to share that Vice President Lawrence has been clear with me about three directives: 1) he will remain involved, particularly with Structured for Success; 2) he is dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition between us relative to his other responsibilities; and 3) he will be back!
I acknowledge that this temporary transition in leadership is unexpected and adds yet another layer of change to our lives when times are already so uncertain. I want to assure you that our direction is steadfast and will not be altered from the vision that Vice President Lawrence has articulated. My priorities for the system — for each one of you — have not changed. Those two priorities are: 1) To ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, participants, and communities and 2) To facilitate your individual success as you work to build a strong Iowa.
I look forward to working with you in the warm summer days ahead.
