Painting History for Community

With symbolic images, a new mural in Perry brings together three threads connecting the city: outdoor recreation, a history of public art programming and the Latino immigrants who make Perry home.

Building Healthy Relationships

When a couple has a strong, stable relationship, they can build a healthy foundation for their family. That’s the message of Healthy Relationship Education Training. ISU Extension and Outreach recently offered the training to Iowa State ROTC students who will serve as leaders in the military after graduation.

Horticulture Meets Citizenship at Soldier Garden

4-H youth are learning about horticulture, history, farming practices and citizenship in the Soldier Garden at the Fort Museum in Fort Dodge. 4-H’ers have planted and are taking care of the garden with guidance from ISU Extension and Outreach Master Gardeners.

SunRun Shares Solar Car, Science and Fun

Team PrISUm took Iowa State's solar car on tour to promote STEM education and get communities excited about sustainable transportation. They partnered with ISU Extension and Outreach to coordinate stops at 4-H STEM camps and other extension events during SunRun 2018.

20,000 Meals from the Heartland

Nothing brings people together quite like working shoulder to shoulder in hairnets and packaging 20,000 meals in an hour. During a Meals from the Heartland service project, ISU Extension and Outreach was networking with a purpose to fight hunger.

Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll

Every year the Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll provides relevant information on agriculture and rural life in the state. This ISU Extension and Outreach resource helps researchers and agricultural stakeholders understand farmers’ ag practices, attitudes and opinions.

4-H Public Leadership Experience 2018

Senior 4-H’ers participated in the Iowa Extension Council Association’s 4-H Public Leadership Experience. They met with legislators, toured the capitol, and learned about the legislative process and the bearing it has on Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Iowa legislators learned about Iowa State University during ISU Day at the Capitol on Feb. 26. President Wendy Wintersteen and other university representatives shared stories of the value Iowa State brings to Iowans.
 

Summit: Youth Share Stories for Social Justice

Iowa youth shared their stories about social justice during a youth summit focused on service and honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Difficult conversations led to friendship and determination to work together for a better future and a better Iowa. ISU Extension and Outreach’s 4-H program was a sponsor of the event.
 

Protecting Iowa’s Natural Resources

Since 97 percent of the land in Iowa is privately owned, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is working with landowners to manage the natural resources on their land for sustainability, profit and improved quality of life.

Our Story: 4-H Youth Apply Animal Science

The next generation of animal scientists – and technicians, engineers and mathematicians – are examining their interests and testing future careers, thanks to Iowa 4-H. Youth learn and apply animal science through 4-H projects and activities such as Animal Science Round-Up.

4-H Youth View the Solar Eclipse
