I am originally from San Diego, CA, but have lived in many different places, including Portland, OR and Ghent, NY. I am pursuing a Master's in Sustainable Agriculture and Horticulture. My research will focus on integrating poultry into vegetable and cover crop rotations. It is a large experiment, being done at two other universities, and involving a range of different departments, including Animal Science, Food Safety, and Economics, among others. I will be focusing on the soil science as well as the crop yield and quality side of the experiment. Before beginning graduate school I was working on an organic farm. After school, I hope to be able to combine my research skills and practical farming experience to help encourage and develop more sustainable regional food systems. I enjoy spending my free time outdoors, especially hiking and camping! I also enjoy traveling, especially through WWOOFing, Workaway, or other immersive volunteer opportunities.
