The annual Iowa State Turfgrass Research Field Day is Thursday July 28, 2016 the field day will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with a lunch at noon. It will take place at the ISU Horticulture Research Station, located at 55519 170th Street northeast of Ames.
Research showcased will include: putting green root zone organic matter trials, cultivar trials, showcasing the newly completed athletic field research plots, irrigation audits, annual bluegrass control trials, and ground ivy control methods.
Pesticide applicator training sessions begin at 10 a.m. and include restricted entry level, recognition of sensitive sites, right of way and pesticide labels. Continuing instructional credits are being offered to certified pesticide applicators for recertification of commercial or private licenses in categories 3O (Ornamental Pest), 3T (Turf Pest), 3OT (Ornamental and Turf Pest), 6 (Right-of-Way), and 10 (Research and Demonstration).
Registration
Registration for the event can be done online. Cost for the field day is $30, which includes coffee, donuts and lunch. Registration for those attending pesticide applicator training is $50. Attendees wishing to receive pesticide applicator training must pre-register.
Iowa State University sponsors the field day in cooperation with the Iowa Turfgrass Institute, Iowa Professional Lawn Care Association, Iowa Golf Course Superintendents Association and Iowa Sports Turf Managers Association.
