Salsa Waterbath Canning Workshop planned for Sept 26th at Otter Creek Nature Center in Toledo
Do you want to learn how to preserve food using a hot water bath canner, but do not know where or how to begin?  Home food preservation is not difficult but it does require following specific directions exactly.  To learn more, make plans to join Jill Weber, Nutrition and Wellness Program Specialist, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach at a hands on salsa-making workshop.  You will learn valuable knife skills as you turn fresh tomatoes, peppers and onions into a delicious salsa you can enjoy for many months.
To participate in the hands on workshop, hosted by Tama County Extension and Outreach register using the following link, http://bit.ly/ptts13744.  Register early as there are a maximum of 10 participants.  Cost is $25.00 for the workshop.   Participants will all prepare salsa, fill a jar, learn the water bath canning method, and take a pint of salsa home.
ISU Extension publications are available at www.extension.iastate.edu/store
Please be safe when canning foods for you and your family! Knowledge and recommendations change over time with scientific developments.  You should use research based recipes and methods and not rely on practices of past generations.
