The Story County 4-H program is always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of activities, ranging from helping with county fair events to serving as a club leader!

June 17, 2021

Ames, Iowa 6/17/21 – Story County Extension and Outreach announced today it received a grant for $2000 from Bayer Fund, which will be used to provide programs that connect youth to agricultural through an environmental lens.

 

“The grant will support programs that help youth recognize their connection to agriculture and ways they can help support a healthy environment,” says Mary Wilkins, Youth Outreach Coordinator for Story County Extension and Outreach.

May 10, 2021

Summer youth opportunities are available through Story County Extension and Outreach.  Youth opportunities include in-person workshops as well as self-guided learning opportunities at home with Camp in a Box.  Registration information is available at www.extension.iastate.edu/story

Youth, in-person workshops have a $25 registration fee and $15 for each additional sibling.  Financial assistance is available by request.  Workshops will be held at the Story County Extension and Outreach office located at 1421 S Bell Ave. Suite 107 in Ames as well as locations throughout Story County

AMES, Iowa – May is Mental Health Awareness Month. If a friend, neighbor or community member were experiencing mental health issues, would you be able to intervene so they could get help? If you needed help, would you know where to turn?

November 17, 2020

Nevada, IA| On November 8, 2020, Story County 4-H Youth and their families gathered virtually to celebrate their achievements for the 2019-2020 4-H Year. 4-H Youth have the opportunity to complete project award applications in over fifty project areas in the 4-H Program. Story County 4-H awarded 29 project awards to 23 different youth, 11 Outstanding/Overall Awards to 4 youth, and 11 Officer Awards.

Story County Extension and Outreach has recieved a Service Enterprise certification! Story County Extension will be equipped to engage and manage volunteers more effectively to meet community needs.
