Extension Program Catalog Available

Nevada, Iowa – Story County ISU Extension and Outreach program catalog is now available at www.extension.iastate.edu/story Extension provides research based programs and information for all ages and supports life-long learning.

Agriculture topics include continuing education opportunities for applicators, recognizing the value of your forest, beginning an ag business, and even learning how to raise bees or chickens.  There are opportunities to become master gardeners and master conservationists.

Youth engage in STEM based programs as well as programs that support development of life skills.  The programs span across ages with adult support.  Parents with children under 30 months may participate in the Small Talk program to identify natural conversation opportunities with their young child.  Preschoolers with their adult may participate in a 30-minute themed lesson with Extension staff.  Custodial grandparents can participate with their grandchild in the InterACT workshop for ideas and resources supporting healthy relationships.

School age students can pick-up a weekly STEM packet from a participating library and then join a virtual zoom session to complete the activity together.  Teens can join virtual zoom sessions to explore topics including career pathways, money choices, babysitting, mindfulness, doing laundry, and being a leader.  Camp in a Box themes as well as programs are planned for spring break and summer break!

4-H club experiences are available for youth in grades 4-12 and Clover Kid club experiences for youth in Kindergarten through third grade.  The annual membership experience provides on-going opportunities for monthly club experiences, county workshop opportunities, and events.  Youth meet friends, explore their interests, care for the community, and more!  4-H and Clover Kids is a family opportunity too!

A new 4-H Maker Club is starting for youth in grades 4-12.  The club will meet virtually by zoom the first Monday of each month at 6 pm to explore STEM in 4-H project areas.  Annual membership fee is $30 per 4-H’er and $5 per Clover Kid member.  Financial assistance is available.
