December Youth Programs
 
Story County Extension and Outreach has programs scheduled for youth from preschool to students in their teens.  Programs focus on STEM, health, gardens, and more! 
Programs include:

  • Weekly STEM packets are available for pick-up from many local library partners. With the packet is now an opportunity to join staff virtually on Wednesdays at 2:30 pm to explore the activity together.  Visit https://www.facebook.com/ISUExtStoryand see the STEM in Your Day event.
  • A virtual preschool program is scheduled from 10 – 10:30 am on December 14 and December 21 and will have a topic of sound.  No fee, but registration required.
  • Teenagers can zoom in from 4-5 pm on Monday, December 14 to explore what mindfulness is and benefits of it. No fee, but registration required.
  • Camp boxes will be available over winter break. Families will want to register for one or more boxes by December 14.  Each camp box will cost $25.  Camp box offerings will include:
  • Homes and Habitats will be for youth to explore where animals live based on their environments.  This program developed through the Iowa STEM Council and the Science Center of Iowa.
  • Exploring Engineering will be for youth to explore how things work.  The program developed through the Iowa STEM Council and the Science Center of Iowa.
  • A New Look at Gardens will be for youth to explore ways food is grown and used.
