The fruit and vegetable research taking place at Iowa State University's Horticulture Research Station will be on full display for the Fruit and Vegetable Field Day Aug. 5. Specific projects include high tunnels, organic vegetable production, pepper and sweet potato production, pest management in cucurbit crops, hops, peaches and beneficial insects such as bees, wasps and pollinators.
The Iowa Small Farms Conference is an event for people excited to learn more about opportunities with small acreage and ways they can make income on their land or improve their rural lifestyle.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host a field day on Thursday, June 30 to highlight food safety procedures for water safety, cleaning produce and handling practices for commercial fruit and vegetable growers.
The event will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the One Step at a Time Gardens (1465 120th Street) near Kanawha, Iowa. It will provide information and demonstrations on water testing for cleaning produce as well as sanitizers, packaging and temperature management for commercial fruit and vegetable growers.
