Farmers from the area and other experts will discuss how soil health impacts the business side of farming during the July 12 field day. This event is being held with support and collaboration from Iowa Learning Farms and the Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District.

ISU Farm Field Day Set for July 20
Research on increasing habitat for monarch butterflies will be among the topics presented at the July 20 field day at the Iowa State University Western Research and Demonstration Farm near Castana. The field day is open to the public at no charge. It will begin at 10 a.m. at the farm, which is located at 36515 Highway E34, Castana, or four miles east of Castana on Monona County Highway E34.

Monarch Conservation Field Day
The field day on July 24 will cover monarch habitat establishment, selection of habitat plant species and weed management in conservation plantings. Location: the 23-acre Field Extension Education Lab (FEEL) just west of Ames, Iowa, at 1928 240th Street, Boone, IA 50036.

Van Buren County Crop and Pasture Walk Set for Aug. 1
The annual Van Buren County Pasture Walk, which begins at 5:30 p.m., is set for Aug. 1 and will be hosted by Sid and Sparky Wellman.

2017 Fruit and Vegetable Field Day
The annual event will feature various research and demonstration projects on fruit and vegetable production for commercial growers, extension personnel, non-profit organizations, and Master Gardeners.
