NOW HIRING: Part-Time Office Assistant/Assistant Bookkeeper

Position: Office Assistant/Assistant Bookkeeper
Reports to: Region 1 Extension Director

This part-time position provides effective administrative support to ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County. The position requires a positive team player who works with other staff and clients to provide successful services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with county staff and volunteers to carry out the mission of ISU Extension and Outreach in Sioux County
  • Meet, greet, and assist walk-in and phone customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Assist outsourced bookkeeper with bookkeeping, including development of county budget and filing of necessary paperwork
  • Assist county staff with acquiring supplies, communicating with clients, and carrying out county-led programs; may require availability for assistance on some evenings or Saturdays
  • Responsible for opening and closing office on days worked
  • Serve as the primary office support for the Regional Director and Extension Council
  • Provide administrative support for Extension Community and Economic Development programming
  • Provide administrative support to the Sioux County 4-H Foundation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to pass a criminal background screening and to meet child protection and safety policy
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to multi-task and positively interact with clients and staff
  • Ability to perform assistant bookkeeper tasks with accuracy and timeliness
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skillsand desire to work as a team member with other extension staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced education
  • Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting

Professional Growth:

  • Opportunity to attend regional and state professional development meetings
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings
  • On-going in-service training related to job responsibilities

Terms of Employment & Benefits:

  • Position will be based at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office located at 400 Central Ave. NW in Orange City, Iowa.
  • Typical work schedule will be three days per week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, work hours may vary some.
  • Wage will be hourly, funded by county funds, commensurate with experience and education.
  • Employer’s share of FICA and IPERS.
  • Paid Time Off, based on number of hours worked.
  • Work-related mileage and other approved travel expenses will be reimbursed monthly at the IRS rate.
  • The position reports directly to the Regional Extension Director.
