Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach’s annual STEM Fest at Dordt University will open registration on Jan. 22. STEM Fest will be held Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Dordt University in Sioux Center. STEM Fest at Dordt University is open to all area 4th through 8th grade students, but maximum capacity is 200 students. The event offers youth an opportunity to take part in multiple hands-on applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa – Growing older is the greatest risk factor for acquiring Parkinson’s Disease and many people live with symptoms for several years before being diagnosed. To provide more resources on the topic, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will host the three-session A Journey Through Parkinson’s Disease on Feb. 5, 12 and 19 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rock Rapids Public Library.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Women in Agriculture are invited to attend a garden-themed “Galentine’s Day” Party hosted by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach on Wednesday, Feb. 12 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Sioux County office located at 400 Central Avenue Northwest in Orange City. The program is being hosted as part of the regional Women in Ag group which strives to provide opportunities for education and networking of local Northwest Iowa women in agriculture.

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach, in partnership with Project STOMP, will offer four free Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings in Northwest Iowa during February and early-March. The training is open to any individuals who work with youth and teens on a daily basis. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults who work with 12-to-18-year-old youth the skills they need to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues, including: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and/or substance abuse problems.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – In response to high levels of both personal and financial farm stress, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a Farm Couple Getaway Feb. 21-22 at the Lakeshore Center at Okoboji in Milford. The program is designed for farm couples who want to improve farm family communication, set goals for the family and farm, work through farm succession or just spend the weekend off the farm discussing and working on their farm family issues.
