Starting a new job can be overwhelming, especially within a complex organization like ours. Orientation is important and necessary.
The onset of COVID-19 and the restrictions it brought made it necessary pause face to face orientation. To aid new staff i becomming familiar with our organization, a virtual introduction to Extension and Outreach, 'Things You Need to Know on Day One' was created.
The resource addresses the questions related to the who, what, where and why of Extension and Outreach.
'Things You Need to Know on Day One' has two components: a video and accompanying PDF. In combination, this resource promotes self-directed learning at a pace you choose. We encourage communication with the new staff’s supervisor to complete the virtual orientation prior to attending in-person New Staff Orientation on campus. The virtual orientation does NOT replace attendance at in-person New Staff Orientation. Instead, it is a precursor to the event.
Seasoned staff may also find it beneficial to refresh their knowledge of our ISU Extension and Outreach organization!
'Things You Need to Know on Day One' can be found on the Professional Development ‘Resources for New Staff’ page. Download the PDF open the video. As the video plays, you will be directed to several links found in the PDF.
