Ames, Iowa – Iowa Farmers Union will sponsor a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) field day in cooperation with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Food Safety Team members and the Center For Rural Affairs.  The field day will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm.  The location for the event is at the Buske Farm north of Fort Dodge (1550 Madison Avenue).

South-central Iowa counties are currently under a moderate drought with some areas now under a severe drought. The drought conditions are causing major concerns for both crop and livestock producers. To help address those concerns, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be hosting six free drought meetings at the following locations.

This summer, Japanese beetles have made their presence known in many parts of Iowa, emerging in mid-June to eat the foliage, fruits and flowers of many different types of plants. It's common to find a horde of a dozen or more beetles at a time. That’s concerning, but how can foliage be protected?

Monarch Butterfly

Iowa Learning Farms will host a monarch butterfly and wetland field day Wednesday, June 14th. The 10:30a.m.-12:30 p.m. field day will be held at a CREP wetland near Story City.  The field day is free and open to the public and includes a complimentary meal. The field day is in partnership with Iowa Monarch Conservation Consortium, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and Pathfinders RC&D.
