Extension Will Brief Ag Retailers on Crop Production Issues, Management Recommendations in Ames

Updates on the latest crop production products and recommendations are the featured topics at meetings sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Ames on Dec 12.

“This meeting is intended to keep ag retailers informed on new research or products pertaining to diseases, insects, weeds, and crop nutrition,” said Meaghan Anderson, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

The Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update qualifies for Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) continuing education credits, and provides recertification for calendar year 2018 for Commercial Pesticide Applicators in categories 1A, 1B, 1C, and 10.

“This event is an opportunity for ag retailers and farmers, who may be unable to attend the Integrated Crop Management Conference, to still hear new, research-based information and complete their commercial pesticide applicator recertification,” said Angie Rieck-Hinz, field agronomist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

Some of the topics on the agenda for the Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update include technology and research updates in fertilizer spreading, weed and corn disease updates, and information on soybean gall midge.

Early registration is $70 if received by midnight, Dec. 5. Late or on-site registration is $85. If you’re unable to attend the Ames Ag Chemical Dealer Update, an additional meeting will take place in Iowa City the day prior, Dec 11.
