Master Gardener Greenhouse

The active growing season at the greenhouse is February through mid-May, but the greenhouse is maintained year round by volunteers from the Polk County Master Gardeners. All operating expenses such as utilities, repairs and improvements are paid for out of funds raised by volunteers.

The greenhouse is a learning laboratory for trainees in the Master Gardener program. It also allows certified Master Gardeners to refresh their skills and grow plants for Master Gardener projects in Polk County. Plants grown in the greenhouse are planted in three demonstration gardens, used to grow produce that is donated to local food pantries, and sold to raise funds for the Polk County Master Gardener projects. The annual plant sale is held the first weekend in May and is open to the public. Plants that are not sold are offered for free to non-profits about a week later.
