AMES, Iowa – Anindita Das has been with the Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa for about 15 months, but her impact already is being felt in many important ways. RACI is a collaboration of service providers, government agencies, religious groups, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions that works to serve the needs of central Iowa’s refugee population. The organization now has a mission and a vision. There is improved coordination among the members of the collaborative.

Three proposals have been selected for funding through the Engaged Scholarship Funding Program, a partnership of ISU Extension and Outreach and the College of Human Sciences. This is the second year of this program, which funds research projects that focus on engagement, translate research into practice, and involve and benefit Iowans, their families and communities.

  • Reports of recent and historical trends in the local retail trade sector by city.

  • The CVC facilitates networking among small and medium size rural communities, sponsors policy analyses, engages communities in dialogue, and fosters discussion among rural and urban interests.

  • Helping the College of Engineering and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach carry out their land-grant university mission to improve the quality of life in Iowa by enhancing the performance of Iowa industry.

  • Data on each county in Iowa including population demographics, education, retail sales, personal income, employment, occupation, housing, and family characteristics.

  • Provides opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use now and throughout their life, empowering them to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.
