UPDATED: Most Iowa State University Extension and Outreach events throughout the state through May 9 have been canceled. When possible, some activities may be conducted virtually using video or teleconferencing. For information on specific events, please contact your ISU Extension and Outreach county office.

Local hospitals are seeking in-kind donations for extra personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of a COVID-19 contingency plan should other available resources become exhausted. Any type of healthcare PPE will be welcomed, especially:

  • gowns
  • gloves (first preference of latex free and powder free)
  • eye protection (best if it provides wrap around protection)
  • masks (especially N95).

To donate, please call your county public health department official or local emergency manager. This will help your local healthcare teams be prepared to care for your community. Those donating should request an in-kind receipt for charitable tax purposes.

Pocahontas, Iowa— The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardener program will host a winter webinar series in 2020. Master Gardeners will gain educational hours for the webinars that are scheduled at the ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County office for February 11th, March 10th and April 14th.

Statewide Resources

  • Let us "feed" your appetite for gardening information with a wide menu of gardening entrees.

  • Helping support the state’s evolving grape and wine industry, because the potential economic opportunities in wineries, value-added agriculture and tourism are limitless.

  • Images and information on a wide range of common pest and non-pest insects encountered in the home, yard and garden.

  • Information on Pesticide Applicator Training, Integrated Pest Management, and related environmental programs.

  • Master Gardeners are individuals who have an interest in horticulture, have taken the Master Gardener training offered by Iowa State University Extension, and share their time and expertise with other gardeners.

  •  Information on lawn, garden, and landscape plant questions is available from ISU Extension staff.

  • Horticulture & Home Pest News is filled with articles on current horticulture, plant care, pest management, and common household pests written by Iowa State University Extension specialists.

  • Production and business management information for commercial producers on wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

  • One-on-one financial counseling, computerized analysis of the farm business, and referral to other extension programs or outside services that may be useful in farm financial planning.
