A monarch and pollinator field day designed for landowners and families who want to learn more about planting monarch and pollinator habitat will be held Sept. 26 near Winterset. The field day is hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach and Pheasants Forever.

Bulb forcing can bring the bright colors and fragrances of spring indoors during winter. Tulips can be forced indoors from December through March, if steps are taken in the fall to prepare the bulbs.

If you have Eastern Red  Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) trees in your landscape you may have noticed seedlings growing in areas you did not plant them.  Eastern red cedar is native to much of the U.S. and offers protection and food for wildlife.
