2019 Babysitting Clinic

ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County will be holding a Babysitting Clinic for 4^th – 6^th graders. The Babysitting Clinic will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 9:00am – 2:00pm at the Pocahontas County Extension and Outreach Office (305 North Main St.).

Pocahontas County 4-H Scholarship Applications Due

All 4-H’ers in Pocahontas County that are attending college in the fall of 2019 are encouraged to apply for one of ten $750 scholarships that will be awarded to seniors in Pocahontas County. The application is available at the ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County office and is also on the Extension home webpage www.extension.iastate.edu/pocahontas or links below. The applications are due February 1, 2019. No late applications will be considered.

2019 NW Iowa Beef Bonanza

Mark your calendars! – Saturday, Feb. 2^nd from 9:45AM-3:00PM @ ILCC – see attached flyer. Cost is $5 per participant. ALL 4-H/FFA members and accompanying adults are welcome to participate for the $5 fee. Deadline to register is January 24^th. Sessions will include Beefing Up! with Tammy Chapman, RD; Calving Simulator – ISU College of Vet Medicine & Dr. Dan Berkland, Sibley Vet Clinic; How do You Score? with Dr. Beth Doran, ISUEO Beef Specialist & Mark Jensen, ILCC Beef Instructor; andYou Be the Judge with Mike Anderson, 4-H Livestock Specialist & Lisa Berkland, 4-H Specialist. Please note – we are not able to grant YQCA credit for attending this event.

Youth Teams Invited to AgOvation Competition

ISU Extension and Outreach county offices are ready to recruit and assemble teams of teens for AgOvation, a new 4-H Youth program that challenges youth to explore and develop innovative, science-based solutions to agricultural problems facing their home communities.

Pocahontas County Fair 4-H and FFA Market Beef Weigh In

All market beef that will be exhibited at the 2019 Pocahontas County Fair must be weigh-in at Dale Wenell’s on Saturday, December 15 from 10:00 a.m.-noon. State Fair identification will NOT take place at this weigh-in, if you need that service please contact the ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County office at 712-335-3103 or lzeman@iastate.edu.
