Your Money, Your Goals Training offered in Storm Lake on November 8

Storm Lake, Iowa – Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Buena Vista County will host area professionals November 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to acquire the national “Your Money, Your Goals” training and qualify for social worker credits.
 
“Your Money, Your Goals,” a course from ISU Extension and Outreach, is designed to help non-profit groups, volunteers, clergy and social service providers assist clients/members with their financial management concerns.
 
The course is based on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Financial Empowerment Toolkit for Social Services. Course topics include:

  • Financial values/smart goals
  • Spending plans
  • Saving money
  • Credit management
  • Getting organized
  • Community resources

 
The 6-hour training focuses on how to best use the “Your Money, Your Goals” toolkit. While the training is designed for professional service providers, anyone interested in helping others take steps towards financial stability and self-sufficiency may attend.
 
During the “Your Money, Your Goals” training, participants receive a 300+ page toolkit and supplementary financial resources to help clients define their financial goals, use credit wisely, manage debt effectively and access appropriate community resources.
 
The course will be held at the ISU Extension and Outreach Buena Vista County office located at 824 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake. Registration is $75, which includes all course materials. CEUs are available for an additional fee.
