Storm Lake, Iowa – Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Buena Vista County will host area professionals November 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to acquire the national “Your Money, Your Goals” training and qualify for social worker credits.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialist Carol Huneycutt Ehlers has been designated a Certified Housing Counselor by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education. This is her second national mark of excellence from the association.

Mark Your Calendars for the Pocahontas County Master Gardeners 12th Annual Garden Extravaganza on April 13, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. & April 14,  9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Expo Center located at the Pocahontas Fairgrounds. The Garden Extravaganza will feature garden plants and décor for sale, door prizes, classes, workshops, and educational handouts.

Returning this year will be a Friday Evening Session 5:00 -7:00 p.m. with wine tasting and appetizers.

On Saturday, the Pocahontas Garden Club will serve coffee and rolls at 9:00 a.m. for a nominal fee and a maid-rite lunch from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for a small fee. Saturday presentations will be held in the Fair Office at 9:15 a.m. with Duren Watts, Grass Master, Algona and 10:30 a.m. with Neil Peterson, Southern Animal Husbandry, Laos.
