Trainings to Certify or Renew Beef Quality Assurance
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering June trainings to help beef producers become Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified or renew their current certification.
BQA is a national program featuring best management practices that align with the highest standards.
“Consumers are interested in the taste, freshness, price, and safety of the beef they eat,” said Beth Doran, Extension beef specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach. “BQA focuses on beef quality and safety, animal welfare and environmental stewardship. The program is win-win – high quality beef for the consumer and increased beef demand which helps producers stay in business.”
Doran said that two BQA trainings will be held in northwest Iowa:
- June 15 from 10 a.m. to Noon (optional lunch following) at the ISU Extension and Outreach Pocahontas County Office, 305 N. Main St., Pocahontas IA; RSVP by June 13 to 712-335-3103.
- June 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the ISU Western Research and Demonstration Farm, 36515 Co. Hwy E34, Castana IA; RSVP by June 23 to 712-423-2175.
Those unable to attend an in-person training may complete BQA training online at https://www.iabeef.org/cattlemens-corner/iowa-bqa.
