Due to the current and ongoing situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, adjustments are being made to this year’s 4-H/FFA livestock identification process and county weigh-ins.  As of today, all county weigh-ins for meat goats, sheep and/or swine are cancelled. The May 15 livestock ID deadline is being moved back to June 1. This applies to ALL livestock that are usually identified by May 15.  For more information check out these links.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s number one priority is the safety and health of our (citizens) staff, youth, volunteers, and all those who attend our programs. At this time and running through May 9, 2020, all Palo Alto County Extension programs are canceled until further notice.

February 12, 2020

A Clover Kid Lock-In has been scheduled for all Clover Kids in the county for Saturday, March 28th from 7:00PM-midnight at the Smith Wellness Center in Emmetsburg. Chaperones will be needed. Everyone will be responsible for his/her own transportation to and from the center. This event is only for Clover Kid members in Palo Alto County. Cost is $10/person. Pre-registration is required and is due March 25th.

February 12, 2020

All 4-H members are invited to a 4-H Bowling Party on Sunday evening, March 22nd from 5:00-7:00 PM at Shamrock Lanes in Emmetsburg. Pre-registration is required—teams will be assigned on Friday before the event. Cost is $15/person and includes pop & pizza and two games of bowling.  This event is for all 4-Hers in grades 4-12—no friends, please. Prizes will be awarded. Deadline to register is March 20th.

The 2019 Palo Alto County Fair Book is now on the web.  This is a must see if you plan to bring exhibits to the Palo Alto County Fair.  The fair book includes rules, fair classes and descriptions, premiums, etc.  Please read before you exhibit!  See link below to access the book.
