December 17, 2018

Palo Alto County Extension with the help of the Palo Alto County Hospital will again be sponsoring a Babysitting Clinic for all youth ages 10 and up.  The program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16th from 9:00-4:00 at the VFW in Emmetsburg.  Cost to participate is $25 to cover materials, lunch, and snacks.  Sessions will include Basic First Aid/CPR, Babysitting Responsibilities, Basic Care, and Safe Play.  Session will include hands-on activities and take home materials.  Pre-registration is required and is due Feb. 8th.  This will be the only one offered in 2019.

Mark your calendars! – Saturday, Feb. 2nd from 9:45AM-3:00PM @ ILCC – see attached flyer.  Cost is $5 per participant.  ALL 4-H/FFA members and accompanying adults are welcome to participate for the $5 fee.  Deadline to register is January 24th.  Sessions will include Beefing Up! with Tammy Chapman, RD; Calving Simulator – ISU College of Vet Medicine & Dr. Dan Berkland, Sibley Vet Clinic; How do You Score? with Dr. Beth Doran, ISUEO Beef Specialist & Mark Jensen, ILCC Beef Instructor; andYou Be the Judge with Mike Anderson, 4-H Livestock Specialist & Lisa Berkland, 4-H Specialist.  Please note – we are not able to grant YQCA credit for attending this event.

This highly interactive three-session program is designed to help participants recognize the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), to understand what causes PD, and how treatments work. The program will also describe what therapeutic activities can be done in the home.
Each 45-minute session will be led by ISU Extension and Outreach Field Specialist, Brenda Schmitt,  who is a trained class leader.

This program provides food safety training for restaurant and other foodservice managers. It is based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ServSafe program and the Iowa Food Code.

Palo Alto Extension will be offereing 3 child care classes this fall. One each month in October, November, and December. If you would like to attend a class please call the Extension Office 712-852-2865 to sign up for a class. The classes cost $15.

There are 4 fall serv safe classes scheduled for our region. Reminder you have to register online two weeks inadvance for these classes. If you need help registrating please come to the office or call us and we will hep you get registered.
