YQCA

YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) is an online certification that 4-H/FFA members can complete at their convenience but MUST be done no later than June 1st in order to exhibit animals at the fair.  Certification is required for 4-H/FFA members who show: beef (market, feeder pens, breeding, and bucket/bottle calf), sheep (market & breeding, and bottle lamb), meat goats (market & breeding, and bottle meat goat), swine (market & breeding), rabbits, or poultry.

This certification must be renewed each new 4-H year.  Cost is $12 per year.  Clover Kids do not need this certification.

Dog Project/Practice Information

Dog Obedience/Agility practices will start Sunday, April 23rd and continue with weekly practices until fair.  Practices will be Sundays from 5:00-6:00 PM at the fairgrounds.  The cost to participate will again be $20 per member or $30 for two 4-Hers sharing a family dog.  Payment will be collected at the first meeting you attend - checks should be made out directly to Kathy Launderville.  If you are planning to show a dog at our fair, please contact the Extension Office (712-852-2865) and let me know no later than April 21st so I can keep you posted on all the details.

Other Reminders:

  • Again for 2023 - exhibitor and dog must attend 3 practices in order to show at the fair.
  • All dogs to be shown at the fair must be identified in 4HOnline by May 15th and then entered in FairEntry by July 1st.
  • All dogs must have a health certificate showing the dog has been vaccinated for rabies within the past 3 years and vaccinated for parvo virus.  Health certificate can be turned into the office or be uploaded into 4HOnline.

*For further dog and class requirements, please see the current Palo Alto County 4-H/FFA Fair Book.
